Choosing the wrong adhesive for frozen surfaces
Standard permanent adhesive labels are not designed to be applied to frozen surfaces. If the product is already frozen, use freezer-grade labels.
Selecting a label that is too small
A label should be large enough for all the required information. If everything is squeezed into a small area, the label can become difficult to read and scan.
Using thermal direct labels in high-heat environments
Thermal direct labels are heat-sensitive, so exposure to heat or direct sunlight can cause the label to darken and the print to fade. For labels used in these conditions, thermal transfer labels may be a better choice.
Not matching the label core size to the printer
The core size needs to match the printer so the roll can be loaded and used correctly; however,some label printers allow both 40mm & 76mm cores.
Applying labels to wet, dusty, or contaminated surfaces
Labels adhere best to clean, dry surfaces. Moisture, dust, and dirt can affect how well the adhesive sticks, so the surface should be clean and dry before you apply the label.
